For Father's Day, the children in the children's community made a paper shirt decorated with stickers—an activity that fostered their fine motor skills, creativity, independence, and engagement, driven by the joy of giving a gift to their dad.

To celebrate Father’s Day, the children in the Toddler Community (18 months to 3 years) prepared a special surprise by decorating paper shirts with colourful stickers.

At first glance, this activity may seem simple. Yet for a young child, it involves many developing skills. Picking up a sticker, peeling it off, and placing it carefully on the paper requires concentration, hand-eye coordination, and fine motor control. Children also rely on executive functions such as sustained attention, motor control, and perseverance.

No instructions were given regarding which colours to use or how many stickers to place. Each child was free to create according to their own interests and developmental stage. This freedom encourages creative expression by allowing children to explore, experiment, and make their own choices without aiming for a predetermined outcome.

What gives this activity its true meaning, however, is the motivation behind it. Creating a gift for someone they love inspires children to stay engaged, persist, and complete their project. This emotional motivation naturally supports both effort and commitment.

Through this artistic activity, the children did much more than prepare a surprise for their fathers: they developed independence, strengthened their motor skills, and expressed their creativity—each in their own unique way and at their own pace.
